We’ve all been there before. You’re at work and something sets you off.
A mean-spirited comment from a co-worker, a rude person on the phone, or you’re just having a bad day.
While it’s perfectly normal to feel emotions at work, it’s important to understand how to manage those emotions in a way that doesn’t negatively affect your work or your relationships with others.
In this post, we’ll explore some tips for managing emotions at work.
Understanding Your Triggers
One of the most important things you can do when it comes to managing your emotions at work is to understand your triggers.
What makes you angry, sad, or anxious?
Once you know what your triggers are, you can start to develop strategies for dealing with them.
Let’s say you know that you tend to get angry when you feel like you’re not being heard.
Make it a point to have one-on-one conversations with your boss to ensure that your voice IS being heard.
Maybe you know that you get anxious when you are struggling to keep up with assigned work tasks.
Ask for help if you are feeling overwhelmed instead of complaining about it.
The key is to understand what sets you off then develop a strategy for dealing with those emotions before they take over.
Staying Aware of Your Emotional State
Another important thing to keep in mind when managing emotions at work is to stay aware of your emotional state throughout the day.
This means checking in with yourself regularly to see how you’re feeling and why.
There are a few ways you can do this.
One way is to keep a journal where you can jot down how you’re feeling and what might be causing those feelings.
Another way is to set aside some time each day for meditation or mindfulness practices such as deep breathing exercises.
This will help you learn to become more aware of your thoughts and feelings so that you can manage them more effectively.
Knowing When to Take a Break
Know when to take a break if you’re feeling overwhelmed by emotions at work.
If possible, step away from the situation that is causing those emotions and take some time for yourself.
Go for a walk, listen to music, or call a friend—whatever helps you relax and de-stress.
Routine Self-Care
It’s important to practice self-care both inside and outside of work.
This includes things like getting enough sleep, eating healthy meals, and exercising regularly.
When we take care of ourselves physically and emotionally, we’re better equipped to deal with stressful situations.
If you are feeling particularly stressed, see if there’s someone you can talk to outside of work, such as a therapist or counselor.
It’s also OK to take some time off if you need it—sometimes the best thing we can do for our mental health is to simply take a break from work altogether.
Managing emotions at work can be tough—but it’s definitely not impossible.
With these tools in your emotional management toolbox, you’ll be better equipped to handle whatever comes your way at work!

Reading can have a profound impact on your life in small but significant ways.
Think of it this way, what else can you do in 10 minutes that has the potential to make you happier, healthier, and more productive?
Not much.
Here are ten ways that reading at least 10 minutes a day can improve your life!
1. It improves communication skills
The more you read, the better you become at understanding and using language.
This, in turn, makes you a better communicator, both in written and verbal contexts.
2. It strengthens your focus and concentration
If you struggle to focus or have trouble sitting still for long periods of time, reading can help!
By regularly training your brain to pay attention to the task at hand, you’ll find it becomes
easier to power through difficult projects and resist distractions.
3. It helps reduce stress
Reading can be a great way to unwind and de-stress.
Just a few minutes of reading can help your mind relax and escape from the chaos of the day.
Plus, it’s a lot cheaper than a massage!
4. It can improve memory
Want to remember more of what you read?
Start by practicing active reading strategies such as comprehension questions, visualizing scenes, and making predictions.
Not only will this help you enjoy and understand your reading material more, but you’ll also be better able to recall it later on.
5. It makes you more empathetic
By reading about other people’s experiences, we develop a greater capacity for empathy and understanding towards others.
This is especially true for fiction books, which transport us into other people’s shoes in a way that nonfiction just can’t match.
6. It boosts your brainpower
Just like any other muscle in your body, the brain needs exercise to stay strong and healthy.
One of the best exercises you can give it is reading!
Reading stimulates different areas of the brain, which helps keep things like memory and critical thinking skills sharp as we age.
7. It exposes you to new ideas
When you read regularly, you’re exposed to new perspectives, customs, beliefs, and values that you might never come across in your everyday life.
This can open your mind in all sorts of interesting ways and help expand your view of the world around you.
8. It improves your writing skills
Because reading makes us better communicators, it follows that it would also make us better writers!
By reading often, we learn new ways to structure sentences, use transitions effectively, and convey meaning clearly–skills that are essential in writing well.
9. It keeps you informed about the world around you
In today’s fast-paced world, it’s easy to feel like we’re falling behind on what’s going on in the world around us.
But if we make a habit of reading newspapers or websites focused on current events, we can easily stay up-to-date on what’s going on–without spending hours doing so!
10. It’s enjoyable
Last but not least, reading is simply enjoyable!
Whether you’re curled up with a cozy mystery novel or lost in an epic fantasy series, there’s nothing quite like getting lost in a good book.
Unlike some other activities that are good for us (exercise, I’m looking at you), reading is something we can do without feeling like it’s a chore – meaning we’re more likely to stick with it long-term!
So there you have it – 10 solid reasons why reading for just 10 minutes every day can improve your life in all sorts of wonderful ways!
Next time you find yourself with some free time, why not pick up a book instead of scrolling through social media? Your mind (and life) will thank you for it!

Are you looking for a way to make some extra cash?
If so, affiliate marketing might be the perfect side hustle for you!
What is Affiliate Marketing?
You’ve probably heard of affiliate marketing before, but maybe you’re not quite sure what it is or how it works.
Affiliate marketing is a performance-based marketing strategy in which businesses reward affiliates for each customer they bring in.
In other words, it’s a way to earn commission on the sales you generate.
How Does Affiliate Marketing Work?
Affiliate marketing programs typically involve three parties: the brand (also known as the merchant or advertiser), the publisher (also known as the affiliate or influencer), and the consumer.
The role of the brand is to provide quality products or services at a fair price.
They are also responsible for creating and maintaining an affiliate program that is easy to join and navigate.
The role of the publisher is to promote the brand’s products or services to their audience through various channels, such as social media, email, or their website.
And finally, the role of the consumer is…well…to consume!
They are responsible for making purchases based on the recommendations of publishers.
How to Get Started as an Affiliate
The first thing you need to do is find a niche.
What are you passionate about? What do you have expertise in?
Once you’ve answered those questions, you can start to research products and services to promote.
Look for products that complement your niche and that offer a good commission structure—you don’t want to waste your time promoting something that doesn’t pay well!
Once you’ve found some good options, it’s time to sign up for affiliate programs and start sharing your links.
There are a few things to keep in mind when you’re sharing your links:
First, don’t spam!
No one wants to be bombarded with affiliate links every time they log onto social media or open their email inbox.
Second, be transparent—let your followers know that you’re using affiliate links and why.
People are more likely to click on your links if they know that you’re not just trying to make a quick buck; you’re trying to help them out by sharing products that you believe in.
I recently took Martha’s course in affiliate marketing that taught me all the right things about affiliate marketing – including how to share and promote products in ways that aren’t pushy or salesy at all!
Third, don’t be afraid to get creative and have fun!
There are endless ways to promote products as an affiliate; get creative and experiment until you find what works best for you and your audience.

Have you ever someone tell you about the amazing benefits of using essential oils, but you were skeptical? If so, you’re not alone.
I used to be a huge skeptic of essential oils myself until I experienced the power of these little bottles first hand. Now, I’m a convert!
There are so many uses for essential oils, from stress support to boosting your mood and energy levels.
Today, I want to focus on one specific use for essential oils: support for nausea
Ginger Essential Oil
Ginger is a well-known remedy for nausea and has been used for centuries to help settle upset stomachs.
Simply add a few drops to a diffuser or inhale directly from the bottle when needed.
You can also add ginger oil to a carrier oil like jojoba oil and rub it on your stomach in a clockwise motion.
Peppermint Essential Oil
Peppermint is another well-known remedy for nausea.
The cooling sensation of peppermint can help ease an upset stomach and make you feel more comfortable.
Simply add a few drops to a diffuser or inhale directly from the bottle when needed.
You can also add peppermint oil to a carrier oil and rub it on your stomach in a clockwise motion.
A word of caution – peppermint essential oil is not the same thing as the peppermint extract you would find in the baking section of the grocery store. They are not interchangeable!
I would avoid buying any essential oils at the grocery store anyway – they are typically not of high quality!
Fennel Essential Oil
Fennel essential oil is steam distilled from the crushed seeds of the fennel plant.
This powerhouse essential oil has a sweet, licorice-like scent and is loaded with health benefits.
When used aromatically or topically, fennel essential oil may help reduce bloating and gas—two common digestive issues that can contribute to feelings of nausea.
Simply add a few drops of fennel essential oil to a diffuser or apply it topically to your stomach area using a carrier oil like fractionated coconut oil.
Lavender Essential Oil
Lavender essential oil is well-known for its calming and relaxing properties.
When used aromatically, lavender essential oil may help ease anxiety and tension—two common causes of nausea.
You can use a diffuser to disperse lavender essential oil throughout your home or office, or apply it topically to your temples and neck areas.
Remember to always use a carrier oil like jojoba or coconut oil prior to applying essential oils directly to your skin.
Lemon Essential Oil
Lemon is another great option for those suffering from nausea.
The citrusy scent of lemon can help to ease an upset stomach and calm your nerves.
Add a few drops of lemon oil to a diffuser or place a drop on a cotton ball and inhale as needed.
There are many different ways to fight off nausea, but if you’re looking for something natural, try using essential oils!
Personal Recommendations
Be sure to always exercise caution when using any natural remedy, especially essential oils.
Essential oils are highly concentrated and can be harmful if not used carefully.
Do your research and know what you are buying and how to properly use the product.
I personally recommend Young Living for essential oils. Since 2016 I have found the products to be of high quality and reliability.
I recently became a brand partner with the company so that I can share the benefits of the products with others because that’s how much I believe in them!
Are you new to essential oils or do you already have a favorite way to use them? Let me know in the comments below!
